This past year, I have completely FALLEN IN LOVE with liquid lipstick.

I have always loved wearing lipstick and trying out new shades so when liquid lipstick came out, I immediately got some. My favorite thing about them is that they are so matte and so long-lasting!

I will be reviewing 3 different brands- Kat Von D, Kylie Cosmetics, and ColourPop. Also, none of these products are sponsored. I just really wanted to review them.

ColourPop

Out of the 3 brands I am reviewing, I would say that the ColourPop formula is my least favorite. I’m not saying it’s bad, because it’s not, it’s just not my favorite.

The shade I have is called Time Square. My sister gave it to me because I wanted a terracotta-type nude-y shade of lipstick.

I really like that it goes on very buttery and soft but after it dries, it doesn’t last very long before it starts crumbling on my lips! I would say it lasts somewhere from 2-4 hours.  (To be fair, I always have dry and chapped lips so maybe it’s different for others. I have read many great reviews with people raving about this product)

Something I love about ColourPop is that they have a wide array of colors! My sister bought a ton on Black Friday & I got to try them out!

Kylie Cosmetics

I’ve been wanting to try Kylie Lip Kits for FOREVER now and on Black Friday my sister got me one! (Lol she went on a makeup shopping spree I guess; we both love makeup)

I have a love-hate relationship with Kylie Lipstick. Now, I am only speaking for this particular shade because I’ve never tried any of the other ones.

I have is the holiday edition one called Merry and oh my god…. it smells SO SO good. It smells like sweet cherry and I almost wanna lick it off immediately after putting it on. This was the perfect color I was looking for because I wanted to have a dark red in my collection.

The thing I love about it is that it’s such a beautiful color and it lasts for quite some time. Also, I feel like it definitely enhances my lips and truly makes them look bigger- LOVE IT.

What I hate is that it leaves a stain on my lips and I have to scrub for 2 days straight just to get it off. Some people like lipsticks that stain but I don’t. Another thing I don’t like is that it’s a pretty thin formula- it seems water-based. (I don’t actually know what the base is, I’ve never looked into it) Although it lasts long, when it’s wearing off, it crumbles on my lips just like the ColourPop lipstick. (Again, it could just be because I have dry lips)

[if your lipsticks don’t crumble on your lips, leave a comment and let me know! I would love to know if it’s just me who has this problem??]

Kat Von D

Okay, last but definitely not least, my favorite brand of liquid lipsticks (that I’ve tried), Kat Von D.

I honestly only have good things to say about it. They were the first liquid lipsticks I purchased, instantly fell in love, and now I have so many of them.

For Christmas, my sister got me the Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set. The set include 8 shades, 2 of which I already had full sized ones of (but I don’t care because I love those shades).

First, I’d like to say that I love all KVD products and I love her as a person as well.

Anyways, I don’t really know where to start but my favorite thing about this formula is that it doesn’t ever crumble!! I guess that’s just the deal breaker for me, I don’t know. This lipstick formula is also so rich (for most of the colors) and goes on so buttery [You can just tell from my picture how creamy they are]. Lastly, this lipstick probably has the longest wear-time that I’ve experienced.

I did swatches for all of them. There are also pictures of all of the shade names in the order of the swatches. (Except the ColourPop one, since the name was on the side)

My favorite shade, I’d have to say, is probably Lovesick. It took me a while to get that one because it was always out of stock, but it was well worth the wait!!

The order of the swatches are: Kylie “Merry”, KVD “Plath, Lovesick, Mother, Backstage, L.U.V., Roxy, Echo, & Lolita”, ColourPop “Time Square”, KVD “Santa Sangre”

As you can see, the purple shade Roxy is more translucent than the other shades (Echo also has the same formula), so not all the KVD formulas are equal.

If you have tried other liquid lipstick brands, let me know what you think of them! (or if you have a post about it, link it up in the comments!!)

  1. I agree with you on Colourpop! I tend to have dry/chapped lips so that one dries out on me quick. If you like KVD I think you would really love Ofra cosmetics liquid lipsticks!!! They’re so creamy and come in a lot of colors. ?

  2. I am obsessed with all of these colours, the nudes are stunning! I am so glad I came across your blog, you should be so proud of it.. keep up the amazing work! x
